Checked on the ShuleOS demo school Who: Every teacher 5 min read

The teacher portal is where you take attendance, enter marks, write report comments, plan lessons and set homework. It shows only your own classes and subjects, and only the parts your school has switched on for teachers.

  1. Open the teacher sign-in page. The address is your school's website address followed by /teacher/login, or use the Teacher button on your school's public page.

    The teacher sign-in page

  2. Type your email and your password, and click Sign in.

Your school office creates your login. If you do not have one, ask the office to open HR → Teachers and use Create Portal Login for you (see the School Admin manual).

Choose your own password

The first time you sign in, ShuleOS asks you to choose a new password, because the office gave you a temporary one. Type it twice and click Set New Password.

Choosing a new password

To change it again later, click your initials at the top right and choose Change password. This time there is a × to close it without changing anything, since it is your own choice, not something ShuleOS is requiring.

If you forget your password, there is no "forgot password" link. Ask the school office to reset it. They give you a new temporary password, and you choose your own when you sign in.

Your dashboard

After you sign in you land on the Dashboard. It greets you and shows the day.

The teacher dashboard

  • The banner at the top greets you, shows your school, the academic year, the term and a bar for how far through the term you are.
  • The top line shows your school, the academic year, and a green badge such as "Class teacher of Standard 1 A" if you have a class.
  • The number cards show what matters today: Lessons today (or "The weekend"), My students (how many students you teach, in how many classes and subjects), Marks entered for the current exam (for example "98%" and "106 of 108"), Homework due, and your leave left. A card only appears if that part of the portal is on for you.
  • My classes has a card for each class you teach or look after, with its number of students and your subjects there, and shortcuts to attendance, marks, curriculum and lesson plans.
  • My lessons today lists each lesson with its time, class and subject.
  • For you today lists what needs your attention, such as "1 homework is past its date and not marked finished". Click a line to go straight to it.
  • Quick actions are shortcuts under the number cards: Take attendance, Enter marks, Homework, Message parents, Ask for leave, Report a problem.
  • The charts show your class attendance over the last two weeks, marks entered by class and subject, the average in each of your subjects, your lessons each day, and your own attendance this month.

The menu

The menu on the left lists what you can use. You may not see all of these, because a teacher only sees what fits their job and what the school allows:

Class teachers see more than subject teachers: attendance, class reports, report comments, behaviour and messaging to parents are for the class teacher of a class.

The bell and signing out

Click your initials at the top right for My profile, Change password and My signature. My profile is your own photo, phone, email and address — your name and employment details are set by the school office.

My profile

Add your signature once — by drawing it with a mouse or finger, or uploading a picture of it — and it appears on the report cards of any class you look after, instead of a blank signature line.

My signature

The bell at the top right shows notices from ShuleOS. A number on it means unread notices. Click your initials at the top right and choose Sign out when you finish, especially on a shared computer.
