Glossary: the words ShuleOS uses
The words you meet in the parent portal, in plain language.

| Word | Meaning |

| Admission number | Your child's own number at the school. |
| Class teacher | The teacher responsible for your child's class. The person to talk to first. |
| Term | A part of the school year. Most schools have three. |
| Present, Absent, Late, Excused | The four attendance marks. Excused means away with a reason the school accepts. |
| Attendance rate | The share of school days your child was present or late. |
| Exam | A test at school, such as "Term 2 End-term". |
| Average | The average percentage over all your child's subjects in an exam. |
| Grade | A letter for a mark, for example A or B, with a meaning such as "Very good". |
| Position | Where your child came in the class. Some schools do not show it. |
| Report card | Your child's written report for a term. You see it once the school has released it. |
| Homework: To do / Overdue / Done | To do is homework not yet finished. Overdue means its date has passed. Done is homework the teacher has marked finished. |
| Invoice | The school's bill for a fee for one term. |
| Receipt | The proof that the school received a payment from you. |
| Charged, Paid, Balance | What the school billed, what you paid, and what is still owed. |
| Arrears | Fees from earlier terms or years that are still unpaid. |
| Control number | The number the school's bank gives your child. Use it as the payment reference. |
| Statement | Your child's fee account line by line: charges, payments and the balance. |
| Portal | The website where you see all of this. |
| Bell | The notification icon at the top right. |
